In Tokyo Photographic Art Museum, we introduce initial photograph technology and history and hold "history of Japan early days photograph Kanto edition" digging down photograph in each area in the early days in Japan. This exhibition pays its attention to initial photograph culture of Meiji by the late Tokugawa period in the Kanto district and reads the cause of instruction of Norihide Takahashi (Nihon University art department photograph subject professor), technique of lost material photograph clearly and spreads with the opening of a port by the late Tokugawa period and looks over tide of photograph culture to settle in in the Meiji era. Photograph as image of optical samurai who added exhibition work to work group of each technique to comment on initial photograph technology, and was invited to samurais with surprise, Edo and Yokohama by foreigner who visited Japan for period by the late Tokugawa period, scenery photograph group of Yokosuka. And, including work of Gyokusen Ugai who is portrait photograph produced in first Japanese photo studio, the Japanese first photographer, we introduce the work with the first photographer in each place that we opened in the Kanto district. We accomplish wound for the late Tokugawa period period, and we make full use of information about works such as valuable original print or negative negative plate, photograph device, tool, and overview does initial photograph culture of the Kanto district that opened bloom for the Meiji period from different angles.
